Adding character to your home is as easy as adding a few architectural details. And it’s quite affordable!
Let’s start with your your windows. Is there space above your windows? Add glass transoms or some molding in that space then paint it a contrasting or complimentary color to add instant panache.
You can add character this way, too. Change out your laundry room door to a sliding door on the new rolling hinges. These mini barn doors are all rage.
Another easy “character lesson” is to change a few kitchen cabinets to open built-ins or add glass doors instead of solid cabinets. This adds interest and a sense of space.
A plate rack is another great idea. You can create this on the wall with a frame of 1’ x 2” boards, molding and shelves. Add plates and you have instant charm without taking up any room!
